Rush Limbaugh a closeted democrat?

Just read this piece by Joan Walsh in Salon.  Here is an excerpt:

I’ve decided Rush Limbaugh must be a closeted Democrat. I can’t think of any other reason he would be leading the Republican Party over a political cliff by advising that they double down on the culture wars.

With new poll data showing that President Obama is quickly gaining ground among women voters, at least partly due to Republican extremism on contraception, Limbaugh told his listeners Thursday that the GOP would win the election if it’s decided on culture-war terms.

“Something tells me, that if the upcoming election could be decided on social issues, the Republicans could win that in a landslide, because we are on the right side of the culture war,” he said. “The problem is, we’re scared to death of it. The Republican establishment wants no part of it.”

Smart Republicans are indeed afraid of the culture wars – because they know they’re on the losing side. Sadly, there aren’t very many smart Republicans anymore; or at least there aren’t very many who will stand up to extremists in their base and say enough is enough on their jihad against birth control.

Wow.  A “jihad against birth control?”  A jihad?  Ah, the new tone.

This Joan Walsh is one dumb broad.  And the funny part is she thinks she is the utmost in intelligence.

NOBODY wants to take her ever-lovin’ birth control pills, for god’s sake.

She and her kind are the ones running a jihad.  They presume to know what Americans think, and they are so wrong.  This is the boneheadedness that is going to lose for them.  There’s going to be such a landslide against their ilk in this country and it is going to make their heads spin.

I frankly think it is they, obama and his minions like Joan Walsh, that have gone off the cliff.

Remember, it is obama who started the contraceptive controversy.  As someone pointed out, it was really George Stephanopoulis who first threw out the question when he bore down on his questioning of Romney in the ABC debate.  And you think ABC and the rest of the media are not working in concert with the obama administration and the democrats?  Think again.  They needed this issue – this non-issue – so they could then claim the republicans are trying to get rid of contraceptives.  Not true.  As long as the government stays out of the Bedroom, all is well.  But obama cannot tell the church what they have to do.  He cannot and he will not and he has overstepped his bounds.

He has, however, done the impossible – united the Catholic Church and the Baptists and evangelicals.  Whoa, I don’t think he saw that coming.

I think it has backfired big time.  So, don’t worry your pretty little head about it, Ms. Walsh.  Have your day, yak your trash.  You just don’t know what you are dealing with.

Chris Matthews asks: Is Sarah Palin a poster girl for racism? (See video)

I have been searching for a video clip of this segment on Wednesday, August 6, 2009, Chris Matthews’ Hardball, MSNBC.  If I had not seen it, I would have trouble believing it, and it left me offended, sick, and speechless.

His guests are Kathleen Parker, Washington Post, and Joan Walsh, Salon, and he opened the segment with this, referring to an article that Kathleen Parker had written.

Matthews:

“Here`s a quote that really grabbed me: “That same rage was on display again in the fall of 2008, but this time the frenzy was stimulated by a pretty gal with a mocking little wink. Sarah Palin may not have realized what she was doing. But southerners, weaned on Harper Lee, heard the dog whistle.”

Chris to Kathleen – “heard the dog whistle?” Is Sarah Palin a poster girl for racism? Yes or no.”

Then they proceed with a discussion about To Kill a Mocking Bird, the “racist south” which is a haven for “republicans” and how that “pitting” a white woman (Palin) against a black man, as in Obama, some how brings up visions of a black man raping a white woman.  In 2009, they are making references like this, Chris talking about the “cul de sacs of whitedom.”  To tell the truth, it is people like Chris Matthews who live down the cul de sacs of whitedom.  Talk about sterotypes!  Do you think these folks should move on into the 21 century?

You will have to hear it for yourself.  Here’s a video of the segment.

11.01.11 – They have done a pretty good job of stripping this video but they missed this one:  http://hotair.com/archives/2009/08/06/chris-matthews-to-kathleen-parker-is-sarah-palin-the-poster-girl-for-racism/

Camille Paglia weighs in on Obama, Rush Limbaugh

Camille Paglia tells it like it is about the “orchestrated attack on Rush Limbaugh.”  I’m taking this segment out just because it echos my opinion and and gives me a chance to talk about it again.

She says of the Bash Rush Blitz that has been going on now for at least two weeks…..

“This entire fracas was set off by the president himself, who lowered his office by targeting a private citizen by name.”

She goes on the say…..

“President Obama — in whom I still have great hope and confidence — has been ill-served by his advisors and staff. Yes, they have all been blindsided and overwhelmed by the crushing demands of the presidency. But I continue to believe in citizen presidents, who must learn by doing, even in a perilous age of terrorism. Though every novice administration makes blunders and bloopers, its modus operandi should not be a conspiratorial reflex cynicism.

Case in point: The orchestrated attack on radio host Rush Limbaugh, which has made the White House look like an oafish bunch of drunken frat boys. I returned from carnival in Brazil (more on that shortly) to find the Limbaugh affair in full flower. Has the administration gone mad? This entire fracas was set off by the president himself, who lowered his office by targeting a private citizen by name. Limbaugh had every right to counterattack, which he did with gusto. Why have so many Democrats abandoned the hallowed principle of free speech? Limbaugh, like our own liberal culture hero Lenny Bruce, is a professional commentator who can be as rude and crude as he wants.”

And that is so true.  Limbaugh talks for a living and he can talk about anything he wants to.  He has worked to get where he is, and he was doing so while Obama was still in Hawaii or Indonesia and before he even hit the shores of main side USA.

Since this whole thing erupted, I started listening to Rush Limbaugh.  Frankly, three hours is way too long for me.  I lose interest, but who was it who said “I will defend to the death his right” to say whatever he wants to.  Some things I am agreeing with and some not, but I hear stuff every day all day long I don’t agree with, but that’s not the point.  And for the President of the United States to call him out by name, as he did, and for his “advisers” such as Begala, Carville, Emaunel, et al, with the help of a willing MSM, to launch a personal attack on a private citizen is just disgusting and way over the top.

What about freedom of speech?  Jim Cramer and Rush Limbaugh are private citizens who happen to have an audience, but they are not in politics, they can’t vote on anything, they don’t form policy, they talk.  So let them talk.
