The “sunny” demonstrators of Cairo

I turned to Morning Joe this morning for the first time since the Egypt riots started.

Eugene Robinson was describing the mood of the crowd as “sunny” and “buoyant.”

Then on the Daily Run Down, Brian Williams comes on, from Cairo, and describes the crowd as ? darn can’t remember the word he used, whatever, it made it sound like they were dancing in the streets.  Just remembered:  It was “jubilant” is the way he described them.

So did I miss something?  What happened to the fires and the rocks and smashed cars and broken ancient statues?

But then this is MSNBC.  These are the same people who have described the Tea Party, a peaceful assembly of American citizens as angry mobs, racists, thugs and tea baggers.  Nice to know Egyptians get more respect than we do.  But it’s okay.  Really.  This just makes me look at this more closely.  These demonstrators more than likely are not what they first appear, for democracy and all.  Anti-American maybe?

Let My People Go!

The first flights evacuating stranded Americans from Egypt took off today amid escalating violence across the country and desperate scenes at the capital’s international airport.

In Egypt, violent anti-government demonstrations have claimed 27 lives and left thousands injured.  One source dated today says there have been 100 killed.

The Sacramento Bee has described the demonstrations in Cairo as:

In one of many astonishing scenes Friday, thousands of anti-government protesters wielding rocks, glass and sticks chased hundreds of riot police away from the main square in downtown Cairo and several of the policemen stripped off their uniforms and badges and joined the demonstrators.

There was the burning of tires and police cars.

*****

Compare the scene above with this scene.  This is democracy in action with peaceful assembly addressing grievances and taking it to the VOTING BOOTH – civil and quite orderly.  How radical, huh? Of all the Tea Party demonstrations, there has not been one arrest.  No violence whatsoever.  Yes, prayer and song and the pledge of allegiance to the flag.  Lots of talk about the Constitution.  And what did the MAINSTREAM corrupt media have to say about the Tea Party?  They have lied, that’s what they have done.

We want our country back! Yes we do!

Okay.  I heard someone say again today that he had NEVER heard  “Take our country back” until now as if the words were coined by Sarah Palin and the Tea Party movement, and coined especially as some code words from some “darker side” to heap persecution upon our poor Obama (you know, the same Obama who rode in on a white horse or more like a white unicorn with the complete support and assistance of media, with almost no experience and even less vetting,  with great ease and, yes, the support of the majority of the American people seeing as how he was elected.)

Well, I know I have heard those words before, so in just a few short minutes I came up with numerous times the words were used before Obama even came on the national scene.  There are many, many more, but the links below will provide a little perspective.  So as to quote the famous well-loved phrase, last heard from the mouth of MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell “you are not entitled to your own facts.”

And my favorites below:

“My name is Maxine Waters.  You are the true patriots and you have come to take your country…..”

So, yes, we want our country back, we sure do.

Report from Washington – Restoring Honor Rally

Things are really crazy on the ground here in DC…in an exciting and good way.

We believe the turnout for this rally tomorrow is going to ASTOUND the country.  The city is just PACKED to the brim with people already, today.

*Short video showing crowd*

Seeing is believing.  Huge crowd.  Totally peaceful.  My fellow Americans.  Wishing I could have been there.

We could begin to restore honor by the mainstream media and others telling the truth – just tell the truth.

An eye witness account:

Just got home from the rally. It was incredible. I was at the 9/12 event and incredibly, this was even bigger. It was packed so solid from the Lincoln Memorial to the WWII Memorial (~ 3/4 mile?) that you could barely cross the mall to get to the port-a-potties. From the WWII Memorial to the Washington Monument (Another 1/4 mile?) it was packed also, but not quite as dense.

Just as with all the other American patriot rallies, I saw no problems—and no garbage left behind. Lots of friendly faces.

The most memorable moment: Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the Star Spangled Banner with a million others. Not many dry eyes—incredibly moving and a feeling I will never forget.

George Bush and Laura greet returning troops

Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, made a surprise visit to U.S. troops this afternoon (08.11.10).

They showed up at the USO in the Dallas-Fort Worth airport. There they mingled with the returning soldiers, thanked them, chatted and posed for photos as proof of the unexpected encounter for folks back home.

And the picture says it all.
