This classic satirical video presentation by the Onion on the news media’s reaction to and reporting of missing children and/or women just came to real life before my very eyes. (This is Friday night) I am watching Bill O’Reilly and Geraldo Rivera is his guest reporter, reporting on the missing child, Haleigh Cummings, here in Florida.
Bill O’Reilly sets the stage by showing the little girl’s picture, and says:
“She’s been missing for 10 days. She’s dead.”
Geraldo says, something to the effect, I am certain she has been raped and murdered and on and on. If I can find a video of this segment, I will post it. But anyway Geraldo goes on about the dire circumstances of this child’s “probable rape and murder.”
Just found a video clip of O’Reilly and Geraldo last night below:
Maybe I have a weird sense of humor, but it’s funny because it is so close to the reality of the media coverage of anything like a missing child/person, which they love so much I am sure they cheer when such a story comes up.
Rod Blagojevich has added Fox to his media blitz. “Insiders tell us Blagojevich will be interviewed in-studio by Geraldo Rivera tomorrow afternoon at 2pmET.”
ABC announced Friday that the network had snared the first Blago interview, but that was before he went to NBC. Blagojevich sat down with NBC’s Amy Robach for an interview airing on Sunday’s “Today” and “NBC Nightly News.”
Skipping his trial on Monday, he will appear live on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “The View” — the latter with his wife, Patti. Then, Monday night he’ll be taking calls on “Larry King Live.”
This video is so funny. (Adult content that may be offensive to some.)
