Invited then uninvited…..
If President Obama fails to intervene to allow controversial evangelist Franklin Graham to lead a National Day of Prayer event Thursday inside the Pentagon, “it will be a slap in the face of all Christians,” Graham said Tuesday.
And invited or not, he’ll stand in front of the Pentagon and pray, Graham said in an interview.
Franklin Graham said the following:
“We’re living in a time where we cannot compromise, we cannot back up, we cannot retreat,” Graham said Wednesday during a live Webcast from the Washington, D.C. offices of the Family Research Council.
“The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is to be preached to the ends of the Earth – that’s what He’s called us to do,” he said.
Graham, the honorary chairman of this year’s National Day of Prayer, made his comments in a sermon to an audience of leaders making final preparations for Thursday’s National Day of Prayer.
“(In the United States) we see everyday our rights being eroded. Just a little at a time, but its happening. Everyday. So let’s preach while we can. Let’s stand up and holler ‘Jesus Christ! King of Kings, Lord of Lords!’to the top of our voice,” the younger Graham said.
“The secularists are going to get ticked off, the news media’s going to hate it. I don’t know, maybe the people in the White House are going to be mad. But you know what, I don’t care. Because God has called us to take the Gospel — His Gospel, the power of God and His Salvation — unto the ends of the Earth.”
He wasn’t going to preach a sermon, just say a prayer for the country. When Christians pray, they pray in the name of Jesus. So he has a right to do that. He stated his opinion about Islam nine years ago. He has a right to do that. He has a right to state his opinion about it today..
But that’s okay, he can say a prayer outside the building. That’s fine. The government can’t make us pray. The government can’t keep us from praying.
“Even if President Obama fails to intervene to allow him to lead a National Day of Prayer event at the Pentagon Thursday, Franklin Graham will still be there— praying for the U.S. military and his own son who is serving in Afghanistan.”
The evangelist’s invitation to attend the national prayer day event inside the Defense Department was withdrawn two weeks ago.
But the famed son of Evangelist Billy Graham arrived in the Pentagon parking lot just before 8 a.m., formed a circle with his party of a half dozen people on the sidewalk and prayed for about five minutes.
