FIRE IN FAA CENTER CAUSED MAJOR DISFUNCTION

Damage targeted and much more devastating than I had realized.  Sounds like utter chaos.

Blago and Elvis connection

Had he survived, Elvis Presley would be celebrating his 75th birthday this year. The King lives again at Heritage Auctions’ August 14th Elvis Auction at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis. The auction is topped by the listing of Elvis Presley’s White Knabe Grand Piano which is expected to bring in over $1 million. Other items up for bid include his original 1955 RCA Contract, a signed Graceland Purchase Agreement, personal address book, love letter, jumpsuit and handgun.

And speaking of Elvis and Auction:

Disgraced Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich’s personal belongings are set to go up for auction by the storage facility to which he owes one year’s worth of back rent. Indeed, Boyer-Rosene Moving & Storage, a Chicago-area moving and storage company, plans to sell the contents of seven 5′ by 7′ wooden storage crates he has rented for the past eight years (as seen below), according to Paul Lombardo, Boyer-Rosene’s chief executive officer.

Most of the contents of the crates are documents, but there’s one intriguing item: a life-size statue of crooner Elvis Presley with a microphone in hand.

CNN: Chicago is out? Chicago is out?

CNN really believes in the world they have built.  How difficult it is when reality smacks them in the face.

I know, I think it’s time to move on but I had not seen this and it’s just too good to ignore.  That little bubble they are living in just popped and is nothing but a wet spot on the floor.  Now we know just how much they actually believe in the fictional world they have created.  I guess there was no question in their minds…no question at all that Chicago would get this just because Obama had willed it.  I just read that the New York Times has scrubbed the bragging of Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, et al, prior to the vote.  It’s just that embarrassing.

Welcome to the world, a world in which Barack Hussein Obama is not bigger than God.

Obama spent at least $236,000 today just to make a speech!!

As President Barack Obama flies Monday to Chicago for a midday speech on health-care reform, the round trip on Air Force One will run about $236,000, according to government estimates of the operating costs for one of the top symbols, and perks, of the presidency.

But that does not include such expenses as Secret Service protection, motorcades and helicopter transports.

My goodness. He just got back from a town hall in Wisconsin.  Can’t he just make a speech in Washington?

See Chicago Tribune:

This is infuriating.

Leave Roland Burris Alone!

Let the man have his Senate seat and get off his back.

I really don’t know what the problem is with Mr. Burris.  If all calling for him to resign would just shut up, there would not be a problem.  And if — if — he had to walk in by himself last night as some kind of a shun, then all the Senators should be ashamed.  I absolutely hate it when someone cries race or racist, but I am beginning to wonder if that’s what it is.  First they block him from the Senate floor so he can’t be sworn in with the rest of the Senate, and now they want him to resign.

rolandburris

He obviously wants the position, I think he considers it an honor that he maybe has hoped, he was duly and legitimately appointed, and he seems to me to be an honorable man, so just exactly what has he done that he should resign?

And besides that, if Tim Tax Cheat Geithner can be Secretary of the Treasury and IRS, Mr. Burris can surely be a Senator.

Obama’s social secretary was Zulu queen – twice

From Gawker:

More details are emerging about Desiree Rogers, Obama’s Social Director.  Another Chicago friend of the Obama’s who has moved to D. C., Ms. Rogers was a New Orleans Zulu queen, twice.

desiree-rogers1Born in New Orleans in 1959. Rogers’s father, Roy Glapion, helped revive the Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club, one of the krewes which run the city’s Carnival. Rogers served as the krewe’s Zulu queen in 1988 and again in 2000, a few months after her father’s death. According to the HistoryMakers website, she has adopted the city’s unofficial motto, “Laissez les bon temps rouler” (let the good times roll), as  her own.

Zulu celebrated the 100th anniversary of its 1909 founding with a yearlong exhibit at the Louisiana State Museum in the French Quarter.  The club is proud Desiree Glapion Rogers, Queen Zulu 2000, was appointed to President Barack Obama’s staff.

Walk into “From Tramps to Kings: 100 Years of Zulu,” a new exhibit at the Louisiana State Museum’s Presbytère, and the first thing you will see — alongside several familiar 10-foot tribal parade figures, towering even without their floats — is one of the finest Mardi Gras gowns ever made.

Designed by the renowned Colombo family it was worn by 2000 Queen Desiree Glapion Rogers.
