Downgrade due to democrat failure – lack of leadership

The republican House of Representatives presented at least 3 pieces of legislation to try to deal with the debt.  Democrat Senate BLOCKED all attempts.

  • May 25, 2011:  Democrat Senate VOTED DOWN a House budget plan aka The Ryan Plan that included provision to overhaul Medicare and prevented S and P downgrade.
  • July 22, 2011:  Democrat Senate TABLED without debate or vote House bipartisan Cut, Cap, and Balance approved by the House, which would have prevented the downgrade.
  • July 29, 2011:  Democrat Senate TABLED without debate or vote House plan on the debt ceiling aka The Boehner Plan.

The democrats passed up these three chances to deal with the debt, plans that were actually in legislative language and were real bills not some vague outline or jotted down ideas, and they refused to do so.

The president never presented a plan in writing.  The Senate did not present any legislation.

July 31, 2011:  Then at the 11th hour, Sunday, July 31, 2011, Obama announces a “deal” which had not been voted on by either legislative body, not even presented in either chamber

“In what we’ve been led to believe to be the eleventh hour, 59th minute and 59th second before financial meltdown, President Obama announced a compromised deal tonight on a debt crisis resolution that has been agreed upon by party leaders of both chambers…….Obama then outlined cuts in domestic spending and announced the establishment of a bipartisan committe to report back by November with a proposal on how best to reduce the deficit.  http://www.mediaite.com/tv/president-obama-announces-debt-crisiseal-agreement-between-leaders-of-both-parties/

Basically the plan was the establishment of yet another COMMITTEE.

The democrat Senate has produced NO BUDGET during the Obama administration, passing two April deadlines, now over 800 days that the United States of America has operated without a budget.  This is against the law.

The president did present a budget with over $3 Trillion dollars in spending which the Democrat Senate also voted down without one single vote, republican or democrat.  No democrat would put their name on this irresponsible excuse for a budget.

National debt has increased at least $5 Trillion dollars since Obama was sworn in January, 2009.  Think about that.

So it is up to any thinking, rational person to make up their own mind.  Who is responsible for this awful situation we find ourselves in.  It is absolutely clear to me.

But even more important, what is the president going to do about it now? Where is he?  http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2011/08/48-hours-after-sp-downgrade-obama-has-still-not-released-a-statement/
