Capping a week of political bickering and parliamentary delays, the House joined the Senate on Thursday to approve a four-year extension of key provisions of the Patriot Act that are set to expire at midnight.
Because President Barack Obama is traveling in Europe, a White House official said the bill will quickly be signed into law using an autopen, a machine that replicates the president’s signature.

…..2012 campaign will be about “strength and leadership,” and declared that the killing of Osama bin Laden had caused the American people to take a “second look” at the Obama administration. “We have a leader with a backbone like a ramrod
Oh, yes, a backbone like a ramrod, big and bad and bold Obama decided to give the order for the Navy Seals to take out bin Laden. Wow. Was it that hard to decide? He made a decision that any other president would have made in the same circumstance, and they probably would not have taken months to decide it.
What is surprising about it is that Obama could bring himself to actually make the call. He just doesn’t seem like a guy with a backbone like a ramrod to me.

The establishment MSM is in whitewash mode, putting up headlines that the Senate rejected Paul Ryan’s budget that was passed by the House by a margin of 40-57. Via Insty: Senate Rejects The Ryan Budget. But that’s not the big news yesterday. The big news is that that same Senate rejected Obama’s budget 97-0. 97-0! Not one single solitary Democrat voted for Obama’s budget! From The Hill: Obama budget receives zero votes in Senate
Since everything is perceived as some kind of referendum, according to the democrat spin, I would say this is an overwhelming referendum against Obama.
Yes, the Ryan budget was defeated yesterday by 17 votes in the Senate, including a few republicans, which is a shame – the usual RINOs – Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Lisa Murkowski, and Scott Brown. Rand Paul voted against it because he doesn’t think it goes far enough.
But not one democrat would put their name on Obama’s big spending budget.
They voted on the republican budget, and they voted on the president’s budget, and Mitch McConnell said, “We’d vote on the democrats’ budget IF THEY HAD ONE.”
And the establishment mainstream media lies, joined in by some internet sites:
I hate to even mention this or link to it, but this article by Brian Beutler, whoever he is, is a typical example of the shameless, shameless liberal-speak on the Ryan budget, joining ABC and NBC. I did not know that Talking Points Memo was so blatantly democrat/liberal leaning, but I guess I know now. Ryan’s budget does not end medicare but seeks to save medicare, yet the headline reads that the GOP votes to end medicare. That is just an outright lie. God help us, there needs to be something done about the media in this country. It’s vile with it’s lies and misrepresentations.
Without action, nobody will have medicare in about 9 years. Paul Ryan’s plan saves medicare. Obamacare strips $500 billion dollars from medicare right off the bat. You would think the congress of our country could join together to solve our financial problems. Where the heck is the bipartisanship and the cooperation from the democrats they so love?

Brian Beutler says he is a journalist – in his own words:
“For a living, I study the dark arts of Congress and greater Washington. I graduated with degrees in physics and astrophysics from U.C. Berkeley in 2004, but have been a journalist ever since.”
