Beverly Hillbillies star Max Baer Jr. may be a long way from his days on the popular 1960s sitcom but he hasn’t given up the character of Jethro yet. Baer, who is 71, is looking into buying a closed hotel-casino in Sparks, Nevada and turning it into Jethro’s Beverly Hillbillies Hotel and Casino. The mayor of the town says that Baer has met with city officials and councilmen on the possible purchase of what was the Silver Club. Baer already has a home at Lake Tahoe.
According to his website the multi-million dollar project will feature unique applications of The Beverly Hillbillies theme including Granny’s Shot Gun Weddin’ Chapel, Jethro’s All-You-Ken-Et Buffet, the Cement Pond, Granny’s White Lightnin’ Bar complete with rain & lightning, Elly May’s Buns (Bakery), gourmet meals from Drysdales’ Fancy Eatin’ Fo Da Richins and Granny’s Vittles & Hog Jowls Coffee Shop.
This struck me as funny, I guess because of the recent insults by the Pelosi/Reid crowd and the insults by MSNBC and CNN of us “hillbillies” and otherwise dumb Americans who don’t necessarily follow in lock step when instructed to.
It just brought up memories of Ma and Pa Kettle and the Beverly Hillbillies. They might ought to consider listening instead of mocking the American people. But that’s okay, I sincerely hope they keep going in this direction because it informs more and more people to the fact that what is put out by the mainstream media is largely a work of fiction.

Don’t forget Petticoat Junction, seems to me those were more innocent times. O’Brother where art thou, was a real popular movie. Every so often Hollywood will plug itself into something interesting.

And for some reason that reminded me of the Real McCoys.
And Today we have Reality Television, that’s what kids are consuming whether it is good for them or not. I’m not being a snob, I like Dancing with the Stars although I couldn’t tell you why? I don’t know if that is in the reality TV category?
