Trying to throw cold water on the Tea Parties

I read this morning on Chickaboomer, one of my favorite sites, that there was some kind of vast right wing conspiracy connecting the American Tea Party movement to Rick Santelli and something called the Koch Foundation, rather than it being a true grass roots movement.

The source of the story or rumor Here was removed before I could get there and read it but my feeling is that this rumor is not legit.

I had heard about the beginning of the Tea Party rallies or protests before Rick Santelli had his little rant. And I believe it was more of a coincidence than anything else.

The woman who organized the very first Tea Party in Seattle has written about it in her blog where she denies anybody anywhere being involved except herself. I tend to believe this, for one reason, because it was held three days before Santelli’s outburst.

Anyway, I don’t know that it matters, but it seems to me that the Tea Parties really were spontaneous and fell into place after the first one in Seattle and people started organizing other protests across the country.

All I can say is I am so glad to see somebody, anybody, anywhere protesting this spending spree going on in our country right now. I’ll be joining if one comes near me.
