Hot young designer Jason Wu, got a big boost into the national spotlight last week when Michelle Obama wore his #17 from his Spring 2009 collection for her interview with Barbara Walters. The $3,510 raw silk dress with hand-embroidered rosettes is part of a line of elegant evening gowns and ladylike dresses selling in the $1,000 to $6,000 range. http://www.luxist.com/2008/12/01/michelle-obama-wears-jason-wu/
Wu has designed several gowns that would be suitable for an inaugural ball, but he says he’s not counting on his being chosen, describing it as “a long shot.”
Jason Wu, 25, also designs clothing for high end collectible dolls
(Looks kinda’ like Barack, doesn’t he?)

Big headlines on Drudge; Diamonds For Michelle, $30,000 First Lady Ring
Michelle Obama is to receive this £20,000 thank you from her husband for her support during the election.
The Harmony ring is made of rhodium – the world’s most expensive metal –and encrusted with diamonds. It is being hastily made by Italian designer Giovanni Bosco in time for January’s inauguration ceremony.
Only about 25 tons of rhodium are mined each year, mostly in South Africa, and as a result its price is typically around £5,000 an ounce.
The stunning thank you ring is made by top Italian designer Giovanni Bosco, who are based at Valenza Po near Alessandria and who counts a select list of VIPS’s and celebrities as his clients.

A Wal-Mart worker died and a woman miscarried after a mob of shoppers in Long Island, N. Y. stampeded through the doors trying to get the Black Friday bargains.
Jdimytai Damour, deceased worker
“We’ve got a lawyer already,” Danielle Damour, 41, said. “They haven’t released the body because they want to do the autopsy.”
“They pushed him down and walked all over him,” Damour’s sobbing sister, Danielle, 41, said. “How could these people do that?
“He was such a young man with a good heart, full of life. He didn’t deserve that.”
During MSNBC’s coverage of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, on Thursday, daytime anchor Alex Witt seemed frustrated that the election of Barack Obama 23 days earlier — and the accompanying “global outpouring of affection, respect, hope” — had not caused an end to terrorist violence.
To quote Ms. Witt: “There had been such a global outpouring of affection, respect, hope, with the new administration coming in, that precisely these kinds of attacks, it was thought — at least hoped — would be dampered down. But in this case it looks like Barack Obama is getting a preview of things to come.”
Well, no kidding! Pardon me while I scream. I guess the terrorists are not feeling the love yet. Maybe MSNBC, after working so hard to get Obama elected, forgot to tell them he was elected.
Essence Magazine interviews Alan Keyes on the question of Obama’s birth certificate and the lawsuit Keyes has filed in California about the matter.
Mr. Keyes says:
The reason an issue has been raised about Obama is because of the simple question, which can be answered with a birth certificate that shows he was born in the United States, or born to parents who had the capacity to transmit U.S. citizenship. When the question was asked, he danced around it. If the most important office of the federal government can be occupied by someone who is not qualified under the United States Constitution, that destroys the authority of the Constitution. I think it’s something that needs to be dealt with in a clear, straightforward way. Eventually the case will get to the Supreme Court, establish the facts, and clear the air. It’s really all very simple.
I agree. What’s the big secret? It would be a simple matter for Mr. Obama to put this to rest. One thing I find so offensive about Obama is that he seems to feel he is above being questioned. Anybody else would have addressed his citizenship immediately. Instead he puts up a bogus looking document purported to be a birth certificate under the heading of “Fight the Smears.” Well, it’s not a smear. It’s just a matter of presenting the documentation.
