Obama’s Birth Certificate Revisited

This time by Alan Keyes.

Okay.  Once again this issue comes up about the birth certificate.  I haven’t written anything about this that I remember, but it just keeps coming up, this time as late in the game as November 12th.

Alan Keyes has reportedly filed a Petition for Writ of Mandate in the Superior Court of California, a portion of which I copied below.  It shows the petition to be signed by attorneys on November 12, 2008, it has a case number, but there is no “filed and date stamp” shown.  This means that it may or may not have been filed with the court.  It probably was, they say it was, but this petition could be all typed up and prepared and signed and never filed with the court. All I am saying is that there is no proof that I see that it was actually filed.   Also, it is a petition, not an order, so it has no weight unless the judge signs the order.  It will be interesting to see if anything comes of it.

This is a copy of what has been presented on the Obama website.

I’ve had some experience in how a certified copy is made and how it looks.  This does not look like a certified copy to me.  It could be, but it does not look like one.  My experience has been certifying documents from a court file.  First of all, there is only one original document.  To certify a copy, the copy has to be made directly from the original document.  The copy then will be signed and dated by the official who made the copy from the original, and then sealed with the court seal.  (Something like a Notary would do, but not the same thing.)  This would be a person who is sworn in as an official in the particular agency.)  You can’t even then make a copy of that signed copy; it would be invalid.  So I think Senator Obama will have to present one to some authority before being sworn in as president.

A certified copy of a birth record in Hawaii can be obtained from the Hawaii Department of Heath for $10.00 but only by person(s) with a “tangible interest.”  There is also an even higher level “authenticated copy” that can be obtained.  Details available at:

http://hawaii.gov/health/vital-records/vital-records/index.html

Anyway, this petition does present some interesting assertions, such as:

“The vault (long Version) birth certificate, per Hawaiian Statute 883.176 allows the birth in another State or another country to be registered in Hawaii. Box 7C of the vault Certificate of Live Birth contains a question, whether the birth was in Hawaii or another State or Country. Therefore, the only way to verify the exact location of birth is to review a certified copy or the original vault Certificate of Live Birth and compare the name of the hospital and the name and the signature of the doctor against the birthing records on file at the hospital noted on the Certificate of the Live Birth.

“Petitioner prays:

That the court issue a peremptory writ in the first instance barring Respondent Secretary of State of California, Ms. Bowen, from both certifying to the Governor the names of the California Election, and from transmitting to each president Elector a Certificate of Election, until such Documentary proof is produced and verified showing that Senator Obama is  a “natural born” citizen of the United States and does not hold citizenship of Indonesia, Kenya, or Great Britain.

In addition, this writ requests that the court issue a peremptory writ barring Respondent California Electors from signing the Certificate of Vote until such documentary proof is produced and verified showing that the Senator Obama is “natural born” citizen of the United States and does not hold citizenship of Indonesia, Kenya, or Great Britain.”

Here’s what Michelle Malkin said in June:

Fact Check dot org is showing several images they claim to be made from the document the Obama people have.  This is one of the images; there’s about nine of them.  This looks authentic, I just don’t see it on the document above.  I am just wondering why this is still a question.

Fact Check dot org has investigated this pretty thoroughly so go to:

Here is what a real Hawaiian birth certificate looks like (link below).  Of course, this is not obama’s birth certificate but a copy of somebody’s certificate who was born in Hawaii.  Notice it gives a place of birth, signature of attending physician, and signature of mother.  None of this appears on what Obama has brought forward as his birth certificate:

“I will mention that I have seen a copy of the birth certificate that the Obama campaign presented.”

REALLY? You’ve seen it? Or you’ve seen the same document online that everybody else has? If you’ve actually seen the document, that’s quite an accomplishment… congratulations!

“I’ve had a little bit of experience in how a certified copy is made and how it looks. This does not look like a certified copy to me. It could be, but it does not look like one.”

By “certified copy” do you mean a copy that has been “certified” as a copy by a notary public? Because no, the document Obama provided online looks nothing like that, because it isn’t and doesn’t claim to be.

QUite franklin, I don’t care about Alan Keyes’ lawsuit, or any of the others, at least not until one achieves ANY measure of success in a court of law. None, to date, ever have. But I am interested in hearing more about your experience in this matter.

    I do have a question on the vault copy section 7c. I have a copy of that long version saved on my computer and I, at first, thought that same thing….that box 7c. can include another foreign country where a baby was born BUT….in looking at it closer, I think that box 7c. is referring to the mother’s place of birth.. not the baby. Here is a link to the long version;

Actually, after looking at it again…it seems to be referring to the mother’s usual residence not birth.

Yes, thank you, dipitdy, for the link. Now THAT looks like the real thing. Note it is signed by an attending authority, as M.D., Midwife, and a parent, and it gives the hospital of birth. If the birth was not in a hospital, the address is required of where the birth took place.

Big difference between this and what has been presented on Obama. Now, my understanding of a certified copy would be that a copy of this “vault” document would be made and then an official in the office where it’s kept would sign, date, and stamp it with the official seal.

I just added info I found on research that Fact Check has done on this. It seems it would be a simple matter for Obama to clear this up once and for all. It needs to come from him. I wish he would address it.

McCain had similar question arise about his place of birth, which was resolvedby congressional resolution:

Other legal challenges reference Obama around the country:

Yeah, McCain’s issue was resolved by congressional resolution. And you know who sponsored it in the Senate? Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

    Ain’t bipartisanship grand?
