Obama’s New Ad a Little Misleading or What’s Kansas Got To Do With It?

There’s a new campaign ad called “Country I Love” which attempts to make Obama a regular values guy.  He says he was “raised by a single mom and his grandparents; they didn’t have much money but they taught me the values from the Kansas heartland where they grew up.”

But you have to listen carefully when BO speaks.  He seems to want to leave the impression that he grew up in the Kansas heartland, but NOT SO.  He says “where THEY grew up” because he grew up mostly in Hawaii and Indonesia.  He didn’t come to the mainland USA until he was in his twenties.

Why does he feel it necessary to be misleading about it?   Does it matter?

“Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961 to an American mother and a Kenyan father. When he was two, his parents, who had met as students at the University of Hawaii, divorced. Obama’s Harvard-educated father then returned to Kenya, where he worked in the economics ministry. Obama lived in Indonesia with his mother and stepfather for part of his childhood, returning to Hawaii to finish high school.”

How silly! The ad says “where THEY grew up” and you think it’s misleading? Which part of “they” is so linguistically challenging? “They” means “they” and “I” would mean “I”. .. if that what Obama said in the ad (which he didn’t).

This isn’t another Clintonian “it depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is.”

If what Obama says isn’t open to your questions, you just make stuff up? There’s no controversy here, there’s no misleading, but you have to manufactire one?

    Silly…. and sad.
